The board also unanimously re-elected Asheville attorney Steve Warren to a second term as vice chair and former Asheville mayor Charles Worley to a second term as secretary.
Joan just contributes so much on behalf of this university, not only during the past year but every year she has been a member of this board, Warren said in nominating her for another term. I can think of no better person to lead this university into the next year.
A community leader and entrepreneur, MacNeill is co-founder and former president and chief operations officer for the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad. A former nurse, she previously served with the Garden Club of Sylva and as treasurer of the Downtown Sylva Association.
On behalf of Charlie and Steve, it is truly an honor to serve this university, MacNeill said.
