Johnny Possum’s Good Time Hootin’ Band will perform at 3 p.m. in the museum auditorium. Hailing from Christchurch, New Zealand, the band includes vocalist and mandolin player Bryan Peters, fiddle player and vocalist Vicki Johnson, banjoist Sean Whitaker, guitarist and vocalist Keith Taylor, and bass player Jonathan Rosanowski.
Johnny Possum has produced two compact discs since the group formed in 2005. “Tickets,” which featured the band performing mainly traditional bluegrass in its own style, was a finalist for a 2007 New Zealand Music Award for best country music album. “Twister,” released last February, reveals influences from bluegrass, folk, Irish, old-time and rockabilly musical styles.
The Mountain Heritage Center is located on the ground floor of WCU’s H.F. Robinson Administration Building. For more information, contact the museum at (828) 227-7129.
