A team of representatives from Invisible Children Inc. will share information about the campaign and screen “Invisible Children: Rough Cut,” a documentary that reveals the realities of northern Uganda’s night commuters and child soldiers. After the screening, there will be a brief discussion session. Invisible Children representatives will answer questions and audience members will be able to express their views about the documentary and campaign.
“Through this advocacy project, we hope to help raise awareness about the plight of children in a war-torn country,” said Ellen Rowe, a WCU service-learning intern who coordinated the campaign for WCU. “We, as students, need to demonstrate a better appreciation for what we have and help bring significant changes to countries like Uganda.”
As a part of the campus campaign, items such as the documentary in DVD format, T-shirts and bracelets will be on sale, and the proceeds will benefits schools and children in Uganda.
Invisible Children Inc. was formed after three filmmakers created the documentary. The organization’s mission is to improve the quality of life of war-affected children by providing access to quality education and innovative economic opportunities for the community.
The event is free and open to the public.
