The free concert will begin at 7 p.m. in the Mountain Heritage Center auditorium. Local pickers and singers, and those who just want to listen, are invited to stick around after the show to participate in the center’s regular Thursday night jam session.
Well-known for their performances at WCU’s Mountain Heritage Day festival and other Western North Carolina venues, Whitewater Bluegrass is composed of Grammy Award-winning banjo player and WCU alumnus Marc Pruett, bassist Ted White, guitarist Bill Byerly and fiddler/mandolinist Buddy Melton.
More jam sessions will be held at the Mountain Heritage Center from 7 to 9 p.m. on the first and third Thursday of each month through March. Area bands to be featured at future jam sessions include the Frogtown Four, Cullowhee Creek and the Stoney Creek Boys.
