The presentation, which is free and open to the public, will be held from 10 to 11:30 a.m. in Room 143 of the Cordelia Camp Building.
Maisano will share how incorporating Second Life, an online virtual world, has served as an immersive world learning instrument in one of her courses and broadened her students’ learning experience. She will discuss virtual classroom development, simulations and role-playing, distance learning and teaching, and simulated teaching field experiences.
She also will present information about how Second Life, which has translating capabilities, is connecting students at Western Carolina University with students at l’Universita di Sassari in Sardinia, Italy. Students are sharing ideas, culture and educational perspectives on culturally responsive teaching.
