The scholarly research of Western Carolina University’s graduate students will be showcased during the university’s 15th annual Graduate Research Symposium on Thursday, March 22, at A.K. Hinds University Center.
About 100 students will present projects on topics ranging from “Soil Characterization for River Cane Restoration in Western North Carolina” to “Factors Affecting Advance Care Planning in Baby Boom-Age Women.”
“For many of our graduate students, this is their first opportunity to share their research findings and creative works with the academic community,” said Scott Higgins, dean of WCU’s Graduate School and Research. “The critical thinking skills that they learn as part of the research process will serve them well in becoming consumers of information and better citizens of the world.”
Participating students and their faculty sponsors will be honored at a reception beginning at 5 p.m. at Club Illusions, located in the University Center. The winners from a graduate paper competition will be announced during the reception.
