The following Web publishing environments are available for students, faculty and staff at WCU.

expectations - wcu.edu - critical service and expected to be up at all times.  Mission Critical.  Outage windows, if any, will be announced.


paws.wcu.edu - website for professional use for faculty and staff

space - 500mb per faculty or staff member

expectations - expected to be up.  Best Effort.  Outage windows, if any, will be announced.


faculty professional presence websites - website for professional use for faculty

space - as needed

expectations - expected to be up.  Best Effort.  Outage windows, if any, will be announced.

    These are a great alternative to the standard URL for promotional purposes. Example – English.wcu.edu is a subdomain for the English Department that is also www.wcu.edu/609.asp.

    we manage WCU’s Google Mini search tool for the WCU website.

Requirements/Limitations

To edit wcu.edu - windows, Internet Explorer, account for RedDot/Content Management System. Additional software is needed to edit images, audio and video.

To edit paws.wcu.edu or claws.wcu.edu - account for paws/claws, web editing software (such as Dreamweaver) - available in on-campus labs for students, in the Faculty Sandbox for faculty or available for purchase by faculty, staff, and students.

To edit faculty professional presence websites using WordPress - account for the site, standard supported internet browser.

Available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, with the exception of scheduled maintenance.

Provide RedDot accounts, offer training and support as detailed here, keep all servers online, create webspace on paws/claws when needed.
