In order to be eligible for federally funded financial aid, you must:

- Be accepted as a degree-seeking student
- Be enrolled in school for a minimum of six (6) semester hours
- Be a U. S. citizen or eligible non-citizen
- Have never been convicted of the possession or sale of illegal drugs or meet the meet the requirements for those who have had a drug conviction in the past.
In order to remain eligible for federally funded financial aid, you must also:
- Be making Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) as mandated by federal regulation and interpreted by the school
- Not be in default on a federally funded student loan
- Not owe a refund on previously disbursed federal financial aid
International Students
As an international student, you don’t qualify for federal and state aid. But you should explore other funding options:
- Employment—Contact the International Student Association for employment opportunities and information on immigration procedures.
- Emergency Loans—These loans available to students are limited to small amounts with short repayment periods.
- Consulate/Embassy—Contact your home government representative about available scholarships and loans.
- The Kendall W. King Scholarship Fund for International Students—The purpose of this WCU scholarship fund is to provide financial support for deserving international students. Undergraduate and graduate students are eligible for the award. Contact the dean of Research and Graduate Studies.
- Other merit-based funding—Be sure to explore external scholarships for undergraduates and grants and awards for graduate students
