A student art exhibition and sale will take place at Western Carolina University’s Fine Art Museum, with an opening reception and awards ceremony Thursday, March 29, from 4 until 6 p.m.

The exhibition, which continues through Friday, May 4, will feature student works in a wide range of media, including painting, drawing, sculpture, ceramics, photography, printmaking and book arts, graphic design and new media, and will be available for purchase throughout the exhibition. More than $2,500 in purchase awards and cash prizes will be awarded to students whose artwork has been selected for display throughout university offices.

The students’ artwork was recently judged by Anne Rowles of Atlanta and Jody Servon of Boone. Rowles has been recognized for her work in three-dimensional media and has taught at WCU and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Servon is assistant professor and director of the Catherine J. Smith Gallery at Appalachian State University and has been recognized for her work in two- and three-dimensional media.

The exhibition is sponsored by the WCU Art Students’ League and the department of fine and performing arts.

Museum hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
