NCCTM Spring 2012 Presentations
The WCU Beta Student Chapter of the North Carolina Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCCTM) has scheduled the following presentations for the spring semester. The talks are sponsored by the Student Affiliate. The Chapter invites any student who is preparing to teach mathematics and all other interested students regardless of major to attend the sessions.
- Date: Thursday, February 9th, 2012, 3:35-4:30 p.m.
- Room: Stillwell 425.
- Presentation by: Dr. Kathy Jaqua, Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science.
- Title: 2-D, 3-D, and Mystery Buildings.
- Abstract: In this activity, we will look at three dimensional "buildings" based on two dimensional pictures. We will use physical blocks to create possible buildings, maximal buildings, minimal buildings, and to recreate a mystery building. Come play with some blocks and see some mathematics come to life!
- Please join us in Stillwell 424 for refreshments prior to the talk starting at 3:10 p.m.!
