Children's crafts program set for Dec. 2 at Mountain Heritage Center
11/27/2007 - “Holiday Crafts” will be the topic of an Arti-Facts! program on Sunday, Dec. 2, at Western Carolina University’s Mountain Heritage Center.
Set for 2:30 to 3:30 p.m., the program will include an opportunity for local children to make seasonal decorations out of natural materials, and each participant also will get to make his or her own pinhole lantern. Constructed of tin, pinhole lanterns were used by settlers in the 18th and early 19th centuries.
Designed for children ages 6 through 12, Arti-Facts! programs explore the region’s natural and cultural heritage. Attendance is free, but reservations are required. Parents are invited to attend with their children.
For reservations or more information, call the museum at (828) 227-7129.
