2008 Foreign Language Contest Results
The 2009 Foreign Language Contest for high school students will be held at Western Carolina University's Ramsey Center on Tuesday, March 24, 2009.
The Modern Foreign Languages department sponsors an annual foreign language competition for regional high school students. The 2008 contest—the 26th annual!—drew in about 375 high school students from across western North Carolina and northeastern Georgia. This year’s contest promises to be just as comprehensive and exciting.
The contest is designed to test students’ knowledge of French and Spanish, and matches individuals and teams from regional schools in various categories and pits teams against each other in a Quiz Bowl for French and two Quiz Bowls for Spanish, one for native speakers and one for non-native speakers.
The department’s students, faculty, and staff, along with volunteers from other departments on campus, serve as judges in the competition.
