FAQs of the Co-Curricular Transcript
 

What types of activities should be submitted for the co-curricular transcript? graphic

 

The Co-Curricular Transcript is divided into eleven categories:

    1. Student Organizations/University Committees membership
Includes membership in any organization, activity, athletic team, etc.
    1. Community Service/Service Learning Experiences
Includes community service such as Adopt-A-Mile, Angel Wings, etc., and any service-learning experience overseen by the Office for Service Learning.
    1. On-Campus Volunteering
Includes any volunteer (non-paid) student organization or university-organized and -focused events such as volunteering to run an Up-All Nite activity, volunteering at a WCU concert or performing arts production, assisting at graduation, etc.
    1. Health, Fitness, and Recreation
Includes C.L.A.W., Bacchus, and/or GAMMA programs and activities, recreation and intramurals activities and programs, Base Camp Cullowhee activities and programs, etc.
    1. Honors, Awards, and Recognition
Includes any formal recognition bestowed on you individually or as part of a group such as Dean’s List, scholarships, Greek Awards, CSI & Leadership Awards, SGA Awards, NCAA recognition, etc.
    1. Leadership Programs and Courses
Includes any leadership role in any organization, activities, programs of any duration, and leadership academic courses taken; i.e. fraternity or sorority officer, SGA Officer, LMP, Athletic Team Captain, Peer Counselors-Mentors, Resident Advisors, etc.
    1. Professional or Educational Development
Includes participation in any extra-curricular learning experience such as national, regional, and local conferences, workshops, seminars, or training programs generally related to departmental major or professional development. It also includes non-credit internships, co-op experiences, study abroad, etc.
    1. Performing Fine Arts
Includes participation in musical, drama, and art programs, and special events such as recitals, plays, art shows etc.
    1. Medias and Communications
Includes work with the Western Carolinian, WCAT, Power 99, NOMAD, GADFLY, WCU yearbook, and TV62
    1. Moral and Spiritual Development
  Includes participation in campus ministry groups, ethics and character workshops, conferences and seminars, etc.
    1. Cultural Diversity Programs
Includes participation and /or attendance at programs offered by WCU Multicultural Center, other WCU departments, local and regional programs, etc.
 

Should I include employment experiences? graphic

 

Employment experiences may be included only if they are connected to your educational experiences such as co-op, work study positions, internships, graduate assistantships, etc.

 

Must all entries be validated? graphic

 

Yes! Entries on your official co-curricular transcript will not be entered until proper validation is received. In order for this official transcript to remain a valid and reliable tool, it is held to the same level of integrity as your academic transcript. Anyone falsifying information on a co-curricular transcript is subject to the appropriate University Student Conduct Code processes for falsifying student records.

 

Who can validate my entries? graphic

 

Validations must be provided by a non-student official representative directly associated with the activity, organization, etc. (i.e. faculty or staff adviser, program faculty/staff director, etc.)

 

What are the costs of the WCU co-curricular transcript? graphic

 

  • $5.00 initial registration fee, which includes three official copies of your WCU Co-Curricular Transcript
  • $2.00 for additional official copies until your graduation
  • $5.00 for additional copies after your graduation
