LCE Constitution            LCE Committee Application

Responsibilities
The Lectures, Concerts and Exhibitions (LCE) Series committee consists of student and faculty with a staff facilitator. Committee members make suggestions for the direction that the series take during the year and may make initial contacts with possible performers. The staff person researches possibilities and presents findings to the committee. Suggested performers are narrowed down by the committee by consensus and the staff person negotiates contracts with chosen artists and makes arrangements for the performance. Committee members are expected to assist with the artists' visits to campus, which may include airport pickups, hospitality, technical help, or help with the door at the time of performance. Members generally serve for two years.

Qualifications
Students and faculty with an interest in the fine arts and bringing quality and challenging artists and lecturers to WCU are invited to apply to be on the committee. An effort is made to include graduate and non-traditional students with a wide variety of artistic interests. Those wishing to apply may request an application and, depending on available vacancies on the committee, will be screened by the University Center Advisory Board. Committee members are expected to participate in the decisions regarding all art forms, not just those in their particular field of interest.

Suggesting an artist
Faculty, staff, and students are invited to suggest performers for the series. To do so, please give the name of the artist to either a committee member or the staff person to be researched or supply more information such as CDs, DVDs, books, videos, reviews, etc. for consideration.

The committee begins meeting in late fall to discuss possibilities and finalizes the following year's season by March. You can send e-mails to ddavis@email.wcu.edu.
