November 17th through 23rd: 

Join us Monday for an evening of choral music by the WCU Concert Choir, University Chorus, and Early Music Ensemble. Robert Holquist directs this performance that includes a variety of classical, broadway, and pop music. Featured are vocal solos by faculty musicians Mary Kay Bauer, William Martin, and Robert Holquist, and the concert will conclude with the combined choirs performing Mozart's "Gloria in Excelsis" from his Twelfth Mass and “The Awakening” by Joseph Martin. On Tuesday, the Catamount Concert Series presents the WCU Jazz Ensemble in concert with guest tenor saxophonist Chad Eby. Eby is on the faculty at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. See more about him at http://www.uncg.edu/mus/faculty/jazz.html. Pavel Wlosok directs the WCU Jazz Ensemble in this free concert, Tuesday at 8pm in the Recital Hall of the Coulter Building.  


On Wednesday evening, the WCU Gamelan Ensemble welcomes guest dance artist Siti Kusujiarti. Trained in Central Javanese dance, Kusujiarti will join the "Low Tech" Ensemble to perform a traditional dance. Also featured will be a new piece for gamelan composed by WCU graduate student Mike Young. The gamelan is an orchestra of instruments (gongs, xylophones, and other instruments) that performs the traditional music of Indonesia and other countries in Southeast Asia.
