Endowment
 Gael Graham

Gael N. Graham, WCU's Creighton Sossomon Professorship in History.

Endowment is the lifeblood of any institution of higher education. Endowment provides security but, more importantly, the opportunity to pursue dreams.

At WCU, that opportunity comes in many forms, to many different people. For those with endowed professorships, it comes in additional resources to apply to pursuits in their special areas of academic interests.

Gifts to the endowment enable WCU to maintain its ability to offer the highest quality liberal arts education, provided by a gifted faculty working with an outstanding student body. Every gift to the endowment is an investment in the future of the university. Gifts of any size may be made to the university's financial aid endowment or to the unrestricted portion of the endowment.

Most contributions to WCU's endowment are made as outright gifts of cash or capital assets such as appreciated securities. To increase the size of a gift, many donors plan a multi-year schedule of pledge payments. The size of an outright or multi-year gift can be increased substantially through specially created deferred-giving plans, such as charitable remainder trusts, charitable gift annuities, and bequests.

For assistance and information concerning gifts to the university, please contact the Development Office at 1-800-492-8496.
