Undergraduate Programs
Our PE-teacher education degree program will prepare you to teach in elementary, middle, and secondary schools.

The WCU physical education graduate is recognized by North Carolina school districts as being well prepared in all areas of gymnasium and classroom management. Our graduates can organize and administer intramural programs, coach varsity sports, and administer athletic programs in addition to teaching physical education, exercise, and dance. Outside of the academy, our graduates also work in YMCA/YWCAs, community recreation programs, industry and corporate fitness, and in private clubs.

Graduate Programs
If you already have a bachelor’s degree, our master's programs will prepare you for teaching physical education in public schools, college-level instruction, and entry into doctoral programs.

We also have programs for those already licensed to teach in North Carolina, for those seeking licensure, and for those who would like to work in community colleges or other areas not requiring licensure.

Graduate studies in physical education provide a comprehensive background in the field, as well as practical experience necessary for advanced licensure in k-12 and coaching or teaching positions in higher education. Our successful graduates work as teachers, coachers, trainers, and university professors.
