Who am I?
As a local gal from Sylva, N.C., Western’s campus was my backyard growing up. My parents and both of my brothers are alumni like me. Some say my family “bleeds purple and gold.” In 2006, I earned my bachelor’s degree in education with a concentration in music. Along with my studies in the Honors College, I was chosen drum major of Western’s nationally known Pride of the Mountains Marching Band—a real honor of which I will always be proud. I also participated in several student organizations and musical theater productions.
Why Western?
I chose to work in the Admission Office because I really believe my alma mater has so much to offer each individual student. This is a place where learning is “hands-on,” classes are small, the setting in the Great Smoky and Blue Ridge mountains is beautiful, and the cost is extremely reasonable. I got to know my professors on a personal basis here at Western. Even though I was initially unsure of what to study, there were more than 120 programs to explore. And I was able to develop real, lasting leadership skills. So for me, it’s a natural fit to work in the Admission Office, where I can brag about this place I love so much. I hope you will take the initiative to learn more about our “jewel in the mountains.” Go Cats!
