Who am I?
I was born in Bogota, Colombia and moved to Raleigh, North Carolina at the age of three. I have lived in Asheville, North Carolina for the past 11 years. I received my Associates in Art from Asheville Buncombe Technical Community College. I transferred from A-B Tech to the University of North Carolina at Asheville, where I majored in Interdisciplinary studies: Latin America in a Global Context. I am currently working on a Masters in Public Affairs at WCU. Through all of my experiences at these institutions of higher education I have gained a commitment for the community and take pride doing many volunteer projects with area non-profits. I feel that by volunteering my time in the community, I'm able to not only gain a deeper connection to my neighborhood, but I also get the opportunity to help others.
Every time I meet with a student I feel that I am helping them to take the necessary steps to further their education. As the WCU representative located on the campus of A-B Tech in Asheville, I regularly meet with transfer students interested in undergraduate, distance, and transfer programs at our school. It’s Western’s commitment to the non-traditional, ,and underrepresented student that gives me the satisfaction that we are giving back to our students. WCU serves the people of North Carolina from its residential main campus at Cullowhee, through its resident credit programs in Asheville and Cherokee, and through distance education opportunities. I feel at home in the WCU office of Admission and truly enjoy helping students meet their educational goals.
