Introduction: Welcome to the home page of Western Carolina University's and the Office of International Programs and Services' division of International Student and Scholar Services. This website provides information of interest to international students and scholars, whether new or currently enrolled, and alumni. This division serves a population of more than 2000 international students from more than 90 countries around the world, and approximately 90 visiting international scholars and faculty. Programs and services are designed to meet the needs of entering international students, currently enrolled international students, and international alumni. Many of our programs have earned national recognition, and we have a reputation for friendly and efficient customer service.
Office Hours: Monday-Fridays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., except for holidays.

Appointments: Please make an appointment via email, telephone, or in person. We recommend that you email us with your needs first, as you may find that an appointment is not necessary for many functions. If an appointment with the International Student Advisor Chris Pedo is necessary, contact him at 828-227-2557 or email copedo@email.wcu.edu, except during vacation periods.

In order to continue processing admission procedures, vital documents and information materials located at this checklist must be received by the Office of International Programs and Services (IPS) no less than 30 days prior to the beginning of the term you intend to begin your studies at WCU.
All new international students to WCU must participate in an orientation program prior to each semester. IPS has designed a 4-5 day-long orientation to make your adjustment to the WCU campus much easier. IPS conducts this orientation session specifically for new international students and requires that all new international students arrive on campus approximately one (1) week prior to classes starting to attend this orientation program and to have sufficient time to adjust to your new home and community here in Cullowhee, NC.

The purpose of this scholarship fund is to provide financial support to international students in need.
Undergraduate and Graduate Students are eligible for the award. Requirements include: a) must be a full-time student
b) must be a degree-seeking student
c) cannot receive funding if you are on exchange to WCU (some exceptions, of course)
