What to Expect
CAT Center - Physics Tutoring

Here's what we can do for you:

  • Create a relaxed, informal setting for you to meet and study with other members of your class.
  • Offer resources and strategies for effective study and efficient time management.
  • Facilitate collaborative study groups in which each student is involved with actively exploring and learning the material.
  • Provide a student perspective of specific classes and professors' expectations.
  • Notify your professors of your visits.
In turn, we expect you to understand that we're good, but we're not magicians! If you really want to improve your grade in a class, you should:
  • GO TO CLASS! Our services supplement class instruction but do not replace missed class content or homework assignments.
  • Attend sessions in the CAT Center on a REGULAR basis starting early in the semester! We are not here to help you cram for tests, but we will provide you with strategies for reviewing, understanding, and learning the material.
  • Complete your assignments. You should arrive at each session prepared with class notes, readings, assignments, and a list of questions you have about the material. We will not do your assignments for you! Like anything else in life, you will get out of this experience what you put into it.
  • Arrive for your sessions on time, focused, and ready to work. Excessive complaining about the class and/or professor is unproductive and unwelcome.
  • Now that you know what to expect, call or stop by today to sign up for your first session! We look forward to helping you become a successful CATAMOUNT!
